BBVA México is the country's largest bank by consumer credit portfolio. Its flagship product in the personal-loan segment is the «Préstamo Personal Express», contracted in the app, at bbva.mx or by calling the Línea Bancomer. Digital approval takes between 5 minutes and 24 hours; the CLABE deposit, another business day.
The official requirements — and the unofficial ones
BBVA's page lists four requirements: age 21-64, documented income from 7,000 pesos a month, current official ID and recent address proof. In practice there are three more the system does evaluate even though they aren't published:
Banking tenure. If your BBVA account is under 6 months old, scoring flags «insufficient banking history» even with a clean Buró. If your payroll has run through BBVA for at least 3 months, approval moves into the green band.
Buró with at least one product closed on time. A completely empty Buró rejects even with high income. The system reads «no history to evaluate against».
Debt capacity under 35% of documented income. Adding the new personal loan plus any other active debt (cards, mortgage, other personal loans), the ratio over monthly income shouldn't pass 35%. Above that, automatic rejection.
How much they approve by profile
Typical amounts BBVA approves in 2026 by profile type:
Client with BBVA payroll 6+ months, salary 25,000 a month, clean Buró: between 80,000 and 250,000 pesos, 6-60 month term.
Client with external payroll, 25,000 income, clean Buró, old BBVA account: between 50,000 and 150,000 pesos, 12-36 month term. The amount comes out lower because BBVA doesn't see direct payroll activity.
Client with BBVA payroll 3-5 months, salary 15,000, clean Buró: between 20,000 and 60,000 pesos. Here the weighting factor is tenure.
External client without payroll, income from self-employment, clean Buró: low amount (5,000-25,000) or application that gets sent to manual review. BBVA Personal is optimized for formal employees; for the non-salaried it's also worth considering Banorte (with fiscal package) or a regulated SOFIPO.
The CAT that actually gets signed
BBVA advertises «from 33% CAT» on the web. That's for an A+ profile: BBVA payroll, long tenure, salary above 25,000, perfect Buró. What shows on screen when you simulate for typical profiles:
Profile A (BBVA payroll, 25K salary, clean Buró): 33-40% CAT.
Profile B (external payroll, 20K salary, clean Buró): 40-52% CAT.
Profile C (BBVA payroll 3 months, 12K salary): 48-65% CAT.
Still clearly cheaper than any SOFOM. The fair comparison is against Banorte Personal and Santander Personal, not against Kueski.
Why BBVA can reject with a good Buró
The most common reasons in profiles that look solid but end up rejected:
Recent multiple Buró pulls. If in the last 30 days you've applied to three cards and two personal loans at other banks, BBVA reads «active credit search = risk». Wait 60 days between applications.
Debt capacity at the edge. If your current debt is already at 30% of income, BBVA can approve but at a low amount. At 40%+, it rejects.
Declared income that doesn't match deposits. If you declare 25,000 but deposits to your BBVA CLABE average 18,000, the system flags inconsistency and the application stalls.
Outdated fiscal address at SAT. If your SAT certificate shows one address and your address proof shows another, BBVA asks for clarification before approving.
What's worth doing before applying
Pull your free Buró (once a year via Buró de Crédito or Círculo de Crédito). Confirm there are no old products left formally unclosed. Wait 60 days from your last application to any credit product. Make sure your fiscal address matches your current address proof. And if your payroll isn't with BBVA, open an account and set up direct debit for at least one service over 3 months before applying for the personal loan — it raises approval probability noticeably.
