Santander branches in Mexico: where they are and when they open

Santander México has nearly 1,400 branches spread across the country, with strong concentration in CDMX, Monterrey, Guadalajara and Querétaro. The network isn't the largest in Mexico (Banamex holds that) but it is one of the most visible in residential and business zones.

How to find the nearest Santander branch

Three main paths:

1. SuperNet Santander app — «Branches and ATMs» section. The source the bank updates most. Geolocates, shows today's hours and services. Use it more to confirm if a specific branch is open today, less to discover new ones.
2. santander.com.mx → Atención → Sucursales — search by neighborhood or postal code. Useful for advance planning.
3. Google Maps — works for location but hours are often outdated. To confirm open/closed, the official app wins.

General Santander branch hours

Standard schedule:

• Monday to Friday: 9:00 to 16:00. Mall branches may close at 17:00 or 18:00.
• Saturday: 10:00 to 14:00 at enabled branches. Santander traditionally keeps more Saturday branches open than other banks.
• Sunday: closed. Some modules in selected malls keep reduced hours (12:00-17:00) but few.
• Official holidays: closed.

Santander branches open Saturdays in CDMX and urban zones

Bank policy is to keep Saturday branches open where foot traffic justifies it. The most typical zones:

• Shopping malls — Antara, Perisur, Santa Fe, Galerías Coapa, Forum Buenavista in CDMX; Andares and Galerías in Guadalajara; Fashion Drive and Pabellón M in Monterrey.
• Commercial avenues — Reforma, Insurgentes Sur, Polanco, Roma Norte in CDMX; some on Av. Universidad and Av. Mariano Otero in Guadalajara.
• Express branches in large supermarkets — selected Walmart, Soriana, Chedraui Selecto. Reduced hours, basic operations only (deposit, withdrawal, balance).

To confirm a Saturday opening, check the app before leaving. Saturdays falling on holidays close all branches.

Santander ATM hours

Santander ATMs operate 24/7 with the same exceptions as any Mexican banking network:

• ATMs inside closed malls only operate when the mall is open.
• ATMs at branches in controlled zones close when the branch closes (façade ones are 24h).
• Scheduled maintenance, mostly in the early morning.

Santander has fee-free ATM agreements with other banks on certain premium products. For standard clients, withdrawing at non-network ATMs is charged; check your account contract before assuming zero fee.

How to avoid the queue at a Santander branch

As with BBVA, rule number one is: don't go if you don't have to. The app and santander.com.mx solve almost everything. If you must go, the least-congested days and times:

• Tuesday and Wednesday between 10:30 and 12:30.
• Early Saturdays (10:00-11:30) at enabled branches.
• Avoid the 14th and 29th of each month — worst because of biweekly payroll.
• Take a number via app if your branch allows it. Not all branches have digital queuing enabled but most large ones do.

Transactions that do require a Santander branch

If Santander isn't your main bank

Santander has good urban coverage but isn't Mexico's densest network. If you live in a small city or distant area, worth comparing:

• Banamex / Citibanamex — largest ATM network in the country, strong presence in provinces.
• BBVA México — second banking network by ATMs and branches.
• Banorte — strong in the north and commercial zones.

If what you need from Santander is just a product (loan, card), no need to switch banks. Most Mexican banks sell products to outside clients without requiring payroll domiciliation.
