When to choose BBVA México

If you're buying new and the brand has a dealer agreement (VW, Audi, Nissan, Ford), BBVA usually shaves another point off and gets to 14% CAT. On a 350,000-peso loan over 60 months, the gap with Banorte is about $8,500 by the end of the term. Typical down payment is 20%.

When to choose Banorte

Banorte is more open to certified used cars and imported cars with a proper invoice. It accepts cars up to 5 years old (BBVA usually cuts off at 4). For borrowers with two or three minor late payments in their history, Banorte will approve where BBVA says no.

My recommendation

New car from a brand with a dealer agreement: BBVA. Certified used car or a borrower with a patchy credit history: Banorte.
